A British man mistakenly threw away nearly 8,000 Bitcoins, and the government is not willing to cooperate.

In 2013, British computer engineer James Howells accidentally mixed a hard drive containing a wallet with 8000 Bitcoins into a garbage bag while cleaning his office, resulting in it being sent to a landfill. Today, these Bitcoins are worth nearly $950 million. Over the years, he has tried to negotiate with the Newport City Council, hoping to invest $25 million for a search.
